When there is a TFS Project you want to delete, if it is the first time deleting a TFS project, you will notice that when you ‘right click’ and remove a project, it is not deleted. When you remove a TFS project, it is only removing the project from the Team Explorer view. To delete a TFS Project, you will need to use the TFSDeleteProject.exe utility located in the Visual Studios directory\Common7\IDE directory. If you are using TFS 2010, the command to delete a project is: TFSDeleteProject.exe /force /collection:http://<TFS Server>:<Port> <TFS Project to be deleted>

If you are using TFS 2008, the command to delete a project is: TFSDeleteProject.exe /server:<TFS Server> <project name>
